Disclaimer: I am not an expert in regards to this conflict. I have done my own research as a privileged white person and have summarized my what I have learned here in hopes that it may serve as a prompt for others (particularly my white friends, family, and clients) to educate themselves and get involved. Please listen to, support, & amplify the voices of Palestinians. Act as an accomplice in their pursuit of freedom from oppression and genocide.

In 1948, a number of complicated factors led to the creation of the State of Israel on Palestinian land without the permission of Palestinian people. Palestinians were violently and forcibly removed from their own homes and land they’d owned for generations. This initial mass displacement is known as The Nakba (The Catastrophe).
The Israeli Occupation Forces (the IOF) have been controlling and terrorizing Palestinian land since The Nakba and have continued to impose wonton violence, extreme control, and progressive isolation of Palestinian people. Millions of Palestinians were ultimately forced and locked into two tiny areas of land in Palestine (the Gaza Strip & the West Bank). These areas are widely considered to be “open air prisons.”
On October 7, 2023, the IOF responded in “self-defense” to an attack by Hamas (a small and minimally resourced militant resistance force within the Gaza Strip). But “self-defense” was seemingly used as supposed justification for the ethnic cleansing that has been ongoing for over 6 months. The government of Israel used, and continues to use, the October 7th attack as justification for ethnic cleansing and the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.
With billions of dollars of funding from the United States government, the Israeli Occupation Forces have leveled the Gaza Strip, murdered over 30,000 people (including thousands of children), and is shamelessly committing war crimes/human rights violations including (but not limited to) the following:
24/7 carpet bombing of areas in Gaza where the IOF told Palestinians were safe for evacuation and attacking the last area for the 1.4 million surviving Palestinians to flee to on the Egyptian border (Rafah).
Deliberate targeting of hospitals, schools, and churches where thousands of innocent Palestinian people were sheltering.
Refusal to allow humanitarian aid (including food, water, fuel, medical supplies, etc.) into Gaza causing mass starvation and rampant illness.
Flattening (alive) zip-tied/defenseless Palestinian people with tanks, dropping white phosphorus onto civilians, and wiping out entire family lines in their non-stop bombing.
Targeting and murdering journalists and their families in a blatant attempt to destroy the massive amount of photo/video evidence and first-hand testimony that lays out Israel’s crimes.
The Palestinians need our help.
How You Can Help
Got money? Donate!
There are millions of people fleeing Gaza with nothing more than the clothes on their back. Consider donating money to vetted Go Fund Me campaigns and reputable organizations that are doing work on the ground in Gaza. Also consider purchasing goods/services from Palestinian-owned companies.
Got a platform? Amplify Voices!
Social media has been a monumental force for good in this conflict. It is through social media that we have seen proof of Israel’s actions. If you have a following (even a small one), consider reposting videos that include accurate information and amplifying the voices of Palestinians.
Got time? Contact Representatives!
Our representatives have actively and knowingly funded many horrific colonizing projects; the genocide of the Palestinian people is now on that list of atrocities. Call and email your representatives (repeatedly) to voice your disgust and demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Got connections? Spread the Word!
In today’s world, we see connections pay off all the time. Networking has become a survival skill for many people. If you have connections that have the possibility of assisting or facilitating change, please educate them and ask them to help in any way they can.
Got rage? Protest!
Protests and civil disobedience are tried and true in terms of their power to elicit system-level change. Protests are happening all over the world, so get involved! If you can’t attend a protest yourself, maybe support those who are protesting! Also, please read protest rules prior to involvement to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
Got grit? Participate in Boycotts!
Boycotts are an incredible tool in this capitalist world. Our dollars are as powerful as our votes; maybe even more so. We need to use (and withhold) them strategically! Check out the list of companies to boycott due to their complicity in this genocide.
